How It Works

LifeFX Living Water Droplets™ contain biotite minerals that participate in processes described in water science as reduction–oxidation (REDOX) and coagulation–flocculation.

Reduction–Oxidation (REDOX)

Reduction–oxidation (REDOX) refers to chemical reactions involving the transfer of electrons between substances. In water science, these reactions are examined to understand how certain compounds may change form and interact under different conditions.

REDOX-related activity has been observed in association with LifeFX Living Water Droplets™, including in laboratory testing involving hexavalent chromium. The lab test concluded that hexavalent chromium (toxic) was converted to trivalent chromium (non-toxic). This aligns with the role REDOX processes can play in influencing how certain substances exist within water.

Coagulation–Flocculation

Coagulation–flocculation describes how very fine or dissolved particles in water begin to come together over time, transitioning from dispersed and invisible states into larger, more visible groupings.

This process can be understood in stages:

Coagulation – particles that were previously stable and dispersed begin to lose their charge balance, allowing them to come into closer proximity

Flocculation – these particles start to bind together, forming soft, cloud-like clusters within the water

Precipitation – as clusters grow, they become heavier and less able to remain suspended

Sedimentation – the formed clusters settle and may become visible as sediment at the bottom of the container

When LifeFX Living Water Droplets™ are added to water, this may be observed as previously dissolved or non-visible particles gradually grouping together and settling over time.

The appearance, speed, and extent of this process can vary depending on the water source and conditions of use.

Water Structure and Organisation

In addition to particle behaviour, there is growing scientific interest in how water may organise itself at a molecular level.

Laboratory observations of LifeFX Living Water Droplets™ have identified characteristics consistent with descriptions of structured or crystalline water — sometimes referred to as exclusion zone (EZ) water — where water has been observed to form more ordered, gel-like regions with distinct properties, particularly in the presence of minerals and surfaces.

This area of research continues to evolve as understanding of water behaviour develops.

Context

The processes described above are based on observations from water science and are provided for general understanding.

LifeFX Living Water Droplets™ are not marketed as a standalone water filter, disinfectant, or certified water treatment device, and are intended to be used alongside existing water practices.
